Several area schools to close Monday

Several area schools announced they will close for at least two weeks beginning Monday. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear recommended the closings Thursday afternoon in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

These closings follow the rapid postponement of the girls’ and boys’ basketball state tournaments Thursday morning. Also, the NCAA announced the cancellation of the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments that were scheduled to begin next week.

Barren County Schools’ students will be out of the classroom March 16-27. The school system said students are instructed to complete iLearn at Home packets.

Glasgow Independent Schools announced Thursday that schools will close March 16 through April 13. Students will complete non-instructional work.

Metcalfe County Schools will close through April 13. Students are urged to be in class Friday for more information.

Warren County Schools is closed March 16 through April 10. Bowling Green Independent Schools is also closed through April 6.
